Summary of Research Projects:

ICVV

The Vitis CIDA team deals with many aspects related to the viticultural production within the context of Sustainable Agriculture: the effect of both the environmental conditions and the cultivation techniques on the vineyard.

The research projects carried out by the VitisGESTION team are related to:

The relation between soil management sustainability and the quality of the vitivinicultural production, dealing with: The relationship between the terroir and the grape and wine quality. Viticultural zonification. Soil cartography.
The preservation of genetic resources of grape varieties of the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Agronomic and enological characterization of new and minority grape varieties within the D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Strategies for vine rational fertilization. Diagnosis methods to assess the nutritional status of the vineyard. Evaluation of different viticultural and agroalimentary residues as fertilizers or organic soil amendments.
Strategies for an efficient water management in the vineyard. Relations between water management, vineyard production, and must and wine quality.
Preservation and management of vineyard soils. Cover crops and mixed techniques used for soil quality preservation.
Vine training systems. Yield management strategies and shoot vigour control. Enhancement of leaf and bunch microclimate.
